Graham SmithThe Rev. Dr. Graham Smith, the new Dean of St. George’s College, Jerusalem, will be speaking in the Philadelphia area February 13 and 14. Hearers will receive not only an update on St. George’s College, one of the premier Anglican centers of pilgrimage and continuing education, but also a sense of life today in Jerusalem, Palestine and Israel.  The event is sponsored by the Philadelphia Theological Institute, the North American Committee for St. George’s College, and the diocesan Middle East Study Group.

Dean Smith will speak at 7 p.m. in the parish hall of Christ Church, Media, 323 S. Orange Street, Media on Monday, Feb. 13, and at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, in St. Peter’s House, 313 Pine Street, across from St. Peter’s Church, Third and Pine,
Philadelphia.   Questions and answers will follow both presentations, which will be similar and are free and open to the public.

Rector of St. David’s Church, Glenview, Illinois for the past nineteen years, Dr. Smith came to St. George’s College this past September.  He brings extensive experience in church development, outreach, and hospitality to the College.  Its programs draw clergy and laity from the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and throughout the world.

The College is a part of an extensive Episcopal complex, including St. George’s Cathedral, in East Jerusalem, a few blocks from the Old City.  St. George’s College thus conveys not only the experience of walking where Jesus walked but also the hopes and the struggles of Arab and Jew today, and the vibrant traditions of the three Abrahamic faiths.
