Pilgrimage 10/24-11/2/10

Canterbury Cathedral Festival and London

with Philadelphia Theological Institute

October 24–November 2, 2010

with Reverend Canon James Shannon

  • Join Reverend Canon James Shannon as he leads a pilgrimage to the Canterbury Cathedral Festival. Spend three days exploring London on your own before moving to Canterbury where you will stay at the Canterbury Lodge for five nights and enjoy two special group events. The remainder of the time at the festival is yours to enjoy the Festival or explore the surrounding area on your own.
  • Enjoy all the Festival has to offer including premier seating at the closing concert with the Canterbury Choral Society and Philharmonic Orchestra performing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, “Ode to Joy” and Gabriel Fauré’s “Requiem” with soloist Sophie Bevan.
  • Laughter is in order at the Faulty Towers Dining Experience. Enter the world of the snobbish, manic Basil, his domineering wife Sybil and the hopelessly language challenged waiter, Manuel. Faulty Towers is interactive dinner theatre at its best!

A Pilgrimage is not a tour—James Shannon

A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey.  A tour is a fact gathering trip.

A pilgrimage is a meditative experience.  A tour is a compulsive experience.

A pilgrimage is a time to relate to the place.  A tour is an overview with no time to meet the inhabitants.

A pilgrimage is way to focus on what happened and is happening.  A tour looks at the history alone.

A pilgrimage is a time of learning by being.  A tour is a time of watching.
